BIO
Master Jeff Gendelman, a certified 6th Degree Black Belt master instructor in ITF Taekwondo and 5th Degree Black Belt in WT Taekwondo, began studying martial arts and self-defense over 55 years ago. He has trained in Minneapolis, Tokyo, Seoul, San Francisco, Chicago, New York City, Los Angeles, San Jose, Montreal, Las Vegas, Milwaukee and Phoenix, and holds advanced ranks in four different styles of martial arts. After 17 years as a partner with the extraordinary J. K. Lee Black Belt Academy organization, with 6 thriving locations in Milwaukee, Master Gendelman now brings to the Los Angeles area his life experience, self-defense expertise, teaching credentials and ability to bring out the best in people.

Master Gendelman was one of the team leaders for the annual halftime show for the NBA's Milwaukee Bucks, and has helped increase the flexibility, agility, and hand/eye/body awareness with Marquette University's NCAA Golden Eagles basketball team, select University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee Panther basketball players, soccer players, and regularly leads self-defense and awareness workshops for companies of all sizes. Additionally, he has been a guest lecturer at many high schools, colleges and universities, including St. John Fisher College, University of Tampa, Marquette University, the University of Southern California, and in the College of Health Sciences at the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee.

In addition to many years of training with UFC/MMA boxing Coach Eddie Cha, top law enforcement instructor Mr. Dave Young, Grandmaster Jae Kyu Lee, Master Chan Lee, Grandmaster Young Choi, Sensei Harlan Cary Poe, and Sifu Henrik Henriksen, plus being a graduate of the FBI Citizens Academy and Outward Bound Survival School, Master Gendelman was a team leader for the Ultimate Black Belt Test, a demanding Black Belts only program developed by Master Tom Callos.

Master Gendelman along with Master Chan Lee, founded the nonprofit J.K. Lee City Youth Martial Arts Program (CYMAP), which brings the life skills and character enriching benefits of martial arts to youth in underserved areas. Additionally, Jeff also helped found the nonprofit, MJFLA, a non-sectarian organization that offers qualified interest-free loans.

In addition to his career in martial arts, Master Gendelman is a professional actor who graduated from the Univ of Minn, trained at the American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco, and has had roles at theaters across the country. He has been in independent films in New York City and Los Angeles, and a series regular on TV dramas including ABC's ONE LIFE TO LIVE and LOVING, and CBS's GUIDING LIGHT. He was also a guest star on NBC's original LAW AND ORDER TV series, as well as Fox's BEVERLY HILLS 90210. He continues to act in films, TV, and theater.

Master Gendelman also enjoys writing and producing film. He wrote and produced the inspiring, independent feature film THE SURFACE, starring Sean Astin, Chris Mulkey and Mimi Rogers, co-stars Lake Michigan, and is currently available on many streaming platforms. As a result, he was invited to give a TEDx Talk on perseverance at Marquette University.
Master Gendelman is presently exec producing and acting in a short film called FIFTEEN, starring Bradley Whitford, and is developing three feature film screenplays: MOUNTAIN PASS (thriller), HEADWIND (coming of age/martial arts story) and EVEN KEEL (comedy crime story), all inspired by true stories.
